G. Paris [September, 20th to] October 13, 1918
"Things are getting more unsettling here and it looks as though we will be on the move before long. All the hospitals in this area have been completely evacuated patients and half our nurses are leaving today. We do not think there is much danger of the (Germans) getting this far, but it’s a precautionary measure."
Toward the end of 1918, under increased duress and a need for more front line physicians, Outerbridge and his colleagues from Pennsylvania Hospital Unit No. 10 joined Mobile Unit No.8. The unit headed first to Paris by train, where a change in commanding officer left them a few weeks to practice setting up and breaking down camp, to check equipment and supplies, check the motors on the various cars and trucks, and to assign drivers. Outerbridge unfortunately left us no photographs from this brief training respite, but continued his habit of photographing his surroundings and colleagues when the unit moved next to the Meuse region of France.
