Description
Image from The Battle Creek Sanitarium System: History, Organization, Methods by J.H. Kellogg published in 1909 by the publishing wing of the Sanitarium. The Sanitarium was a health resort primarily catering to wealthy patrons employing health priciples based on the teaching of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Sanitarium practices focused on diet and exercise, as well as a variety of other practices including massage, water therapy, electro-therapy, rest, exposure to open air, colonics, and more. On site laboratories provided patients with detailed diet plans and analysis of patients health functions. This volume outlines in detail the principles and practices of the Sanitarium, as well as the buildings and grounds where patients resided and received treatments.
