Margarita philosophica, an encyclopedia intended for younger students, first appeared in Freiburg, Germany in 1503. Written by Gregor Reisch in a catechetical, question-and-answer form, the work is divided into 12 chapters of knowledge, filled with charts, diagrams, and block prints.
