Diagram of a human figure, anterior view, with the sternum and front of the ribs removed (along with viscera) to reveal the intercostal muscles. The figure holds the removed sternum and rib portions which are attached to a staff.

Historia de la composicion del cuerpo humano, Juan Valverde de Amusco’s 1556 work of anatomy, contained 42 illustrations, all but 4 of which were copies from the work of Vesalius. This edition is an Italian translation published in 1560 with the title Anatomia del corpo humano.
