Engraving depicting a man with just the hilt of a sword in the right hand and the remains of a shield on the left arm preparing to "parry a blow".--Cf http://www.usask.ca/antiquities/collection/hellenistic/borghesegladiator.html. Figure is viewed from the rear, with the body in three quarter profile and arms extended. Accompanying text identifies the external sections of the human body.
