Diagram showing the location of cognitive processes and senses in parts of brain. The first section of the brain includes the common wits (common sense) or combined senses of sight, hearing, taste, and smell, Fantasia (fantasy), and Imaginativa (imagination). The first and second sections communicate through the Vermis. Cogitatia (thought) and Estimatia (judgement) are located in the second section of the brain, and Memoria (memory) is located in the third.

Buch der Cirurgia, Hieronymus Brunschwig's handbook of surgery, was first printed in 1497 by Johann Grüninger. The work was intended for aspiring barbers and surgeons, and includes compiled knowledge of past surgeons along with the experiences of Brunschwig himself. Many of the woodcut illustrations are only loosely related to the text, consist of composites, and reappear throughout the text and in other works printed by Grüninger.
