Handwritten sign for a World War I mustard gas shelter. Typewritten caption: This yellow-cross mustard gas shelter I took off the entrance to a gas-proof dugout, 50 ft. deep (trap door and ladder. This had been captured from the Huns intact in the battle of Mont-Sec on Sept. 12th, 1819 [i.e. 1918?].
Date based on likely year of obtainment by Dr. George W. Norris while stationed in France, 1917-1918.
